MACKAY REGIONAL BOTANIC GARDENS

Public BBQ

The Mackay Regional Botanical Gardens offer a captivating blend of plants, wildlife, and wetlands. Visitors can meander along scenic paths enveloping a central lake, where birds such as Jacanas and Plumed Whistling Ducks bask in their natural habitat. These gardens, impressively established in just 20 years, feature varying arbors representing different regions. While some areas seem untended, the garden's serenity, combined with tranquil views and ambient water sounds, more than compensates. Visitors can indulge in the café overlooking the lake, though its offerings may be ordinary, the ambiance isn't. There are children's parks and frequent sightings of butterflies, complementing an already serene atmosphere.
